I, Phone Woman

I checked for drug interactions with a flip of a finger, a middle-aged techno-babe plying my apps.

As I put down my iPhone, the room exploded with an arcade-style riff.

“Nice ringtone!” I said to my patient.

“Uh...I think that was your phone.”

Oh dang, I opened my games while closing down drugs. Not so tech savvy after all.

Fresh off her internship, she looked like a teenager. The stethoscope around her was the clue.
She was serious, yet with a quirky sense of humor, but I put my well being in her hands anyway. The best decision of my life.
Twenty tears later when I moved away, I wrote, thanking her for the extras years under her care. She said she’d never received a letter like that before.
